Sanni's MH

Sanni was my very first smooth collie, so she had the honour of introducing me to the breed. From the start she was a sweet girl, calm and gentle and a faithful companion. She never ran off on her own but stayed close at my heels. The only thing that could make her pick up speed was food or a cat straying across her path. But she did have a fair amount of guarding instinct, barking and defending me or the house against both real and imaginary threats. Sanni competed a little in agility and obedience trials, but since she preferred getting paid regularly with treats she enjoyed learning tricks more than competing in trials. Among her tricks were opening the fridge fetching me a softdrink or tidying up (moving items from the floor and dropping them into a bucket). But her very own specialty that she enjoyed doing most of all was clapping her teeth in a silent bark, looking at me with laughter in her eyes. She truly was a lovable girl with lots and lots of humour. She will be sorely missed. But in a way Sanni is still among us, in her 8 children, 22 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren.
